C280 vacumn pump
 

The vacumn pump in my c280 1994 can be heard running on start up and seems to run for quite a time after start up.
Vacumn pump located in boot under panel, close to the fuel input flap unit.
What does the Vac pump do and how should it operate?
Is it electric and can it be serviced?
