My 1985 300D will bind, and the tanny will give a moan when starting off from a complete stop. It will usually do it when starting quickly, like pulling into traffic. I then back off of the gas, and it stops, then I can give it the gas again without any problem.
I did a search of the archives, and did not see anything similar. Could this be a band adjustment, worn spider gears, or a flex disc? Or could it be worse! Any thoughts or suggestions would be appresiated. I have gotten some great info from this site, it's great!:) |
Scott,
Don't know the cause of your moan, but the 280 makes a little moan too. Only on cold morning, immediately on moving forward for the first time, and only lasts a second. Haven't figured it outyet, but have a tranny service (filter and fluid) in mind very soon. |
MIKE,
I DID A COMPLETE TRANS FLUSH AND FILTER CHANGE ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO. THIS STARTED AFTER THAT. TRANNY TEMP DOES NOT SEEM TO EFFECT THIS SITUATION. I ONLY GET THE MOAN WHEN I GET THE BINDING, OTHERWISE, THE SHIFTING IS THE BEST THAT IT HAS EVER BEEN. STARTING OFF IN A TURN ALSO SEEMS TO CAUSE THE BINDING, BUT ONCE THE VEHICLE IS ROLLING, IT IS FINE. IT SEEMS THAT EVERYTIME I THINK ABOUT SELLING THIS CAR, ANOTHER PROBLEM POPS UP. IT'S LIKE IT HAS A MIND OF ITS' OWN! |
