Militech-1 and Oil

I've used it as cutting/drilling/tapping oil in the past with great success. I'm about to order some more to dump in with the next oil change. I've heard some great reviews about this stuff and mixing with normal oil (even diff oil)

Pat Goss from Motorweek used to push the Militec. And he told a story about how a car engine was filled with Militec and oil; then ran, stopped and the sump drained. The car was then driven with just the supposed protection of the Mllitec that had bonded to the rotating parts.

But I found out at a site called www.motorminute.com that this is an old charlatans trick. That chlorine (I think that s the element) when introduced in high concentrations and drained will allow an engine to be run for some time with no oil lubricant.

Mercedes engines need no oil additives, and is specified as such in the owners manual.

Anything that Militec claims or seems to do for you will be accomplished with Mobil1 synthetic.

It claims not to be an additive.

I am not too sure about how it will work in the engine, but it works very well on my pistol. I am not too sure if you could get the full benefits from it as an additive. For firearm use it has to be cured. Apply it then fire about 30-40 rounds to heat the Militec up so it can "bond" to the metal. How will it cure in the diluted form with other oil coating the same areas you are trying to treat. I guess you could fill the sump with the stuff, but that would be extremly expensive...

Just my two cents *shrug*

militec has a deceiving web site, they make an effort to link their product with somehow being approved by the Department of Defense which is bogus. Their posting of a document dated 1988 -almost twenty years old, eludes me as to what it is meant to prove.

The comment I made about Militec and it's promo ( engine running with no lubricant) with Pat Goss of PBS's Motorweek was a misleading ad attempt. The problem is; what allows militec to appear to be working in the scam is an ingredient which had been proven over time to harm bearings and is corrosive in the high concentrations needed to perform the ad.

Do your homwork and research on your own before deciding to use Militech

One of the main reasons I've brought it up - I didnt use it/order it.
