SLK auto transmission
I have a 2004 SLK 320 and I need to know what is the procedure for checking the auto gearbox oil level, I have the special mercedes dipstick tool to do this, does the engine need to be running ? can anyone tell me how to tackle this .

With a "slightly warm" engine read the level on the side of the stick with the lower marks... The dipstick will BOTTOM out in the pan.... that is the correct way with the engine running & the trans in P or N with parking brake ON.
