yep, facing the drive shaft.

I had the same trouble a few years ago. A German friend helped me out with the lingo, the writing should face the shaft as MB DOC says.

The flex disc has different cushion properties if you put it on the wrong way round. You'll see the differences in the rubber and bushes if you inspect it.

What about the rear flex disc?

Since the front flex disc has words that says it faces the rear, what way does the rear disc go. I'm going to change mine since i see cracks forming. I purchased a lemforder, but it doesn't have any words, just numbers on one side and nothing on the other. I see what you guys said about the ground off symbols and numbers. Thanks

The lettering goes toward the front of the car on the rear flex disc.

QUOTE by irieite: The procedure might be a little different for other years, but here's how I did it on my '91:

Great! Many thanks .... I'll be doing this as soon as the weather warms up. I noticed a 'whine' lately when it gets cold outside.... center bearing needs replacing as well, no doubt ..... I sure hope the 'clunk' I hear is related to the worn flexdisk that is now 220k km old.

cheers
