Help! Can I borrow your engine hoist? - Bay Area, also engine swap questions.
Does anyone have a cherry picker sitting around getting rained on I might borrow for a couple weeks? Buy for cheap? I'm strong, but... come on. I'm swapping the old 240D motor and tranny for a 300D euro, NA, also with a stick. I got both for $700, and they're supposed to have 118K on them.
So far I have: Shorten the driveshaft by 58(?)cm. Drill a couple new holes for the cross member bracket. Bust some knuckles, invoke some dieties, etc.. Questions: Glow plugs? 4 -> 5. Need new relay? Air filter housing? Swappable from the 240 to the 300 motor? Starter? New engine doesn't have one. Same starter for 240D stick and 300D stick? Exhaust? The header's intact, but downstream of that manifold, it's cut. Should the 240's exhaust mate right up? Thank you for your input, and thanks for considering letting me use your cherry picker. Cheers!
