Spacers?

I am buying a complete Genuine AMG body kit for my car and later plan on putting bigger wheels on it, i.e 18" monoblocks. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?p=1101012#post1101012
My question is, will those wheels just go in place or will I need to put some sort of spacers or some other equipment on?

spacers are dangerous things.....if they are more than 1/8" - 1/4" thick.

Take a look at the 500e Wheel offset specs...

If you can avoid using spacers, they limit the integrity of the wheel hub connection, not a good thing. I think your best bet to to use the same front and rear offset wheels designed to fit a w124 500E. There is quite a bit of info on this in the archieves and several members can be consulted as well.

Best of luck!

Spacers & adaptors revisited...

Jiminy Crickets!!

All you need to know...

http://www.hrsprings.com/site/products/trak.html

Other mfg's exist, but this info is a good starting point.

Yes, cheapo Pep Boys/Advance Auto/Auto Zone generic spacers are crap, but there are spacers/adaptors that have been used on hi-po/racing Porsche/Audi/M-B/etc cars with zero negative effects...

Can we sticky this info so that anytime someone types in 'spacer(s)' or 'adaptors' that they are automatically directed to correct info? Seems that this query gets revisited every six months or so?

The "spacers are good/spacers are crap" discussion gets to be almost as fun as the "increase-boost & intercool-it-with-no-fuel-increase-yields-more-power" discussion... sigh...

Okay, rant-hat off... :D

on my 89 300SE to fit newer E430 16" wheels.
..they are fine.

If you haven't bought the wheels yet why not just buy ones with the correct width and offset?

500E wheels will not fit a standard car because the wings (fenders) are wider.

Wheel spacers seem like a bodge. Bodging and Mercedes don't go together.;)
