Brake Rumble

I get a sort of rumbling when I brake, it's like there is something worn. It seems to disappear once the speed drops below 95mph but at higher speeds it's a bit worring.

It's prolly that bottle of chilled Moet rolling about in the trunk, old boy

95?

I have the same problem - turned out to be the rear brake rotors. Pads were worn to the rivets, destroying the rotor (and making a nice grinding sound)

now that you mention it, I did change all the brake pads recently and some of the disks were bit worn but I thought they would last another cycle.

After I changed the pads the weather wasn't good so I haven't been driving so fast.

The rotors didnt look OEM/OM, more like autozone junk...

OEM looks so much nicer...

if you

have ridges on the edges you can get metal on metal without having all the pad gone. this would cause rumble.

The pads are new all round. It is more likley to be general wear on the rotors that is causing the problem. It may be that this will improve one the pads ae bedded in a bit more.

yeah

i think you are right on.

I had a look at the rear rotors at the weekend.

Is the indentation on the outside of the rotor a wear indicator?

No.

i think

you are talking about the edge of the rotor. this is the thickness it was before wearing down. and if too tall. it will rub against metal on your pad well before your pad is worn out. hence a rumbling. metal to metal.

no, I'm talking about a cut into the edge of the rotor. If the rotor was worn down this would remove the edge of the rotor at that point.

I'll do a picture later.

not a cut

a lip.

Are you having trouble with ..NO.;)

The small circular cut in the outer edge is a factory balance cut.
