c200 Parking brake warning light stays on

Hi all,

I have a 2003 c200 Kompressor Avante Guarde Estate.

When I leave the car overnight, on the first release of the Parking Brake the warning light stays on and the audible warning stays on for some time, for the rest of the day everything works okay.

The parking brake doesn't appear to be sticking on, just the warning light and audible does stay on for the first time.

Any ideas for a novice to start working on ?

It is driving me mad !

Kind regards, Paul.

Have you checked the level of your brake fluid resiviour? :)

Thanks for the reply, but the fluid is fine.

Perhaps the parking brake needs adjusting, I'll try and find out how to check it, and try that next.

Kind regards, Paul.

I know with the older cars when the rear e-brake shoes (inside the disks) become worn to where they need adjustment the brake light is supposed to stay on.

However if lifting the pedal doesn't make the light shut off...then its most likely going to have something to do with your fancy electronics. :) A lot of us are used to the older cars on diesel discussion. :)

Let us know if you find out!
