99 e300d transmission

I have a 99 e300d that I am having some transmission problems. When the vehicle is cold (first 20 minutes) and I have the shifter in overdrive the transmission will not downshift when I slow down to a stop. When I do not use the overdrive and put the vehicle into 4 it will shift just fine. The vehicle after 20 minutes or so can run in overdrive and work just fine. The vehicle does have 200k on it but would like some insight if someone could help. Thanks in advance!!

An early 722.6 with 200,000 miles, not good.
If the transmission feels like it’s taking off in a higher gear at a stop,

there can be a stuck valve in the valve body. I would first
Scan all the modules for any codes, if none, remove the transmission
Pan, check for heavy metal contamination in the filer and pan. If
You have a small amount of metal, change the filter and have
the transmission flushed
