Cool '95 S320 Lumbar seat malfunction

The lumbar adjustment in both of the front seats in my vehicle won't work. Are they independant or do they rely on the cars vacuum system, which operates the door closers and the trunk "suck down"?

THe lumbar pump is the same one that locks/unlocks (under rear passenger seat) it provides pressure for lumbars, backup vacuum for HVAC, headrest release on some. trunk handle.
The closing assist (over rear driverside wheel) provides the pull in!
