1989 260E SRS Codes

Is there any way to check the SRS codes for a 1989 260E or do I need to take it to the dealer? The SRS light came on and I want to find out where the problem is. Thanks.

that system does not have self diagnostic capabilities, there is a tester that is used, or you can test the speed sensors individually, usually it is speed sensors or ov relay issue,

Thats not entirely true. If your car is equipped with an 8 pin diagnostic module near the battery you can read the codes from pin 6. Some 89 models had the 8 pin module other did not, I'm not sure when exactly MB made this standard.
