How to repair/adjust the Parking brake

Hi All,
This is a Great Forum that I eversee . So many TS and helpful hints. Thank you for all of that.
Have question, Just c/o front and rear brake disc and Pads (ML320 yrs2002, 37910miles) but not the Parking Brake.( the reason is the brake shoe still have alot for use) but when I test the Parking brake , the car is move forward and reverse slowly( this wasnot happen before). What can I do to readjust it. On the driver side the adjuster facing down and the passager side it facing up. What is direction should I go to make the parking Brake work as before. Thanks
