210 blower regulator / motor
VIN # ending in J024116.
With one constant, low speed, looks like regulator is bad,& considering VIN looks like MB updated assembly requiring all components replaced (motor, switch,& cover plate.) My question is where the units are located, & how to access them, as well as removal steps for getting to. Fairly handy DIY'er.( glow plugs, blower motor on older 87,etc.) Also wondering if using regulator for 140 model as seen in posts & rewiring harness is advised. Thanks again, This site has been rewarding. |
Less than 30 minutes to get to that blower..
Remove passenger side under dash panel & you will see the blower motor cover..remove that cover & you will see the blower motor w/regulator.. OLD style motor has METAL housing & small regulator..REPLACEMENT motor has plastic housing & very large heat-sink regulator. |
the answer is blowin in......
Hey Doc, Thanks for the response.
From what I've read, I'm best off ordering the 3 parts instead of trying to use the old blower (assuming it still works & the regulator is faulty,)& rewiring the old harness. The 3 parts - Regulator (2108211551) Blower (2108206842) & Cover (2108352740) As it's still a bit cold here in Chicago,I'll wait till the end of the week when it's supposed to warm up, & start exploring under the glove compartment. Is it pretty accessible ? basically an unscrew, unplug & remove job ? Any chance of Murphy coming over & finding Pandora ? Any step by steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a again |
You can try this too
you can use the resitor/regulator for a w140, the sockets will fit you just have to lenghten some wires., less expensive:wacko:

Yes, you should replace the complete assembly...
Installing and modifing parts not designed for that application ISN'T a good idea...IF the circuit was fused that would be a different matter. |
210 blower motor /regulator follow up
Today was the day I decided to take a look at the blower replacement. I've removed the plastic cover & see the motor. Slid off 2 yellow plastic slides (which I guess are filters ?) in an attempt to locate the regulator, with no luck. From looking at replacement parts pictures I can see there's more to remove then the space just under the blower motor would allow, & would like to know the remaining steps of what & where to get the rest out. What a comfortable position to work in while accessing all of this ! I can see a few more of the brass star screws, but want to eliminate the guessing where possible.
Thanks for any advice. |
