Transmission modulator 1990 300se w126

Need some help ASAP. Bought a new modulator from worldparts the other day. Came in an MB box, the new part has the MB star, it's original. Only problem, it doesn't match the old modulator.

New modulator part number: 126 270 5779
Old modulator part number: 126 270 4379

Here are some pictures:

Old modulator on the right, new one on the left. Will the new one fit? Is it an updated version? Or did I recieve the wrong part?

Also, the box it came in is labeled A 126 270 9179

When I check Fast Lane and a couple of other WEB sellers who source thru World Pac, I see that 126 270 57 79 is not in stock.

Your old part 126 270 43 79 and the part on the box you received 126 270 91 79 both bring up the same photo with the same World Pac part # - J5020-102311, so one might be inclined to believe they are interchangeable. Parts get updated, but.....

The area around the base of the stem, the base itself and vacuum port design/location appear different. Is this a problem?

Hopefully M.B.Doc will drop in and confirm yea or nay.

I did the same research. Could be that the part is mispackaged, however. If it isn't, then I'm thinking that this is a new update. It looks like it will fit right in, but I don't want to mess around with it until I know for sure where this new part came from. Thanks for the reply.

1262705779 is not a valid part number. 1262704379 supercedes to 1262709179. No additional parts are indicated.

Do you have any pictures of the 1262709179? All the online places have the same picture as the old one.

That's the one! Thanks, solved my problem. Now I can put the damn thing in.

Seriously, thank you for the prompt response. Lifesaver.

New modulator went in without a problem, thanks!

Drained the fluid from the pan. Brown with black silt and a few shiny grains of aluminum. Not good, considering I changed the fluid and filter 10k miles ago.
