'87 560sl front end creeking sound

I've been chasing a front end creeking sound that I hear only when I apply the brakes and then unapply the brakes. I've done much work on the front including the following:

Shock absorbers
Tie rods
U&L control arm bushings
Sub frame bushings
Stabilizer bar bushings
Steering damper

What else could it be and why does it only happen when I apply the brakes?

Thanks,

Steve

How about the lower balll joints?

This was the main problem I had with my 560SL at 110k mi; boots were torn up and they were squeaky and creaky.

as ever

Guide rods. Mine does the same thing. It also feels as if the brakes are "catching" which is, in reality, the front suspension on the side of the bad guide rod moving.

Could be ball joints, but I would think it would creak more often than just when braking. Also, when they did control arm bushings and alignment I would think that they would of spotted a bad ball joint.

Not sure what guide rods are or even if a 560sl has them? Read another post where creaking was noted just on braking and one of the ideas was worn brake reaction rod bushings, but I'm not sure what those are either?

Sorry, I misread your vehicle type. I thought it was a 560SEL.
