Engine reving & limp home mode
 

Hello all,

I have the following problem on a '94 E500.

After a cold start the engine will rev up and down continuously vroom-vroom-vroom etc with the ASR light blinking. If I press the accelerator the engine will rev then settle at around 1100rpm (ASR light now OFF)and the car would go into limp home mode (i.e. the accelerator paddle is dead till half way).

After driving the car for a couple of miles the symptoms go away and the car- pedal- engine are back to normal.

The first merc repair shop said nothing wrong with the car after keeping the car for a week.

Second repair shop is still trying to diagnose the problem.

Any advice appreciated.
