Dropping the top manually on a CLK?

Can you lower the top on a '01 CLK manually by reversing the emergency raising directions in the owners manual? Top and power windows don't work on the car and I want to check for any loose wires or sensors.

Yeah, it's a PIA but you can do it. The most important step is loosening the screw at the pump two full turns. This opens a valve in the pump that allows the hydraulic fluid to flow while the top is being moved.

Thanks. It was a breeze. Took less than 10 minutes the first time referring back and forth to the manual. Already had the back seat out so it may have been easier to unlatch the cover. Probably could do it in 2 or 3 next time. No obvious loose wires or connections.

pump location on clk

where is pump located? my top will only go up half way. any ideas?

The pump is located in the trunk on the drivers side.
If the roof CONSISTENTLY stops in the same spot, then you most likely have a switch problem. If the roof seems to be over labored when moving the soft top then I would check fluid level and check for leaks if low. Good luck, hope that helps a little

My top crashes into the top of the windshield when it closes-it is supposed to stop about one inch away and then be manually pulled down and closed; what can I adjust to fix this? Thanks.
