Mercedes Importer - Suspicious
Just couldnt find the OBD II port on my c200 1999 Elegance. Can't help feeling that the local importer (in Malaysia) purposely changed the cover under the steering column to hide the port cover. Maybe because they want buyers to use the benz STAR diagnosis at the dealership??
What do you think looking at the photos?? - http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=148117 BTW I paid RM230,000 for the car (USD 60,000) for the car in 1999 due to the 100% import tax to protect the local car industry.

Matthew,
Look on the driver door frame same level at your right knee. It is just on top of hood lever and covered with flap opened plastic piece. It may installed vertically. |

Why the assumption that your car has an ODBII port?

It is possible that the OBDII port is not enabled in the computer firmware and/or the parts to make it work (on PCB as well as the connector) aren't there. I think that the OBDII port is required by the US EPA on any car made after the mid-1990's. Because it isn't required in many areas of the world, they probably delete it for that market.

I've checked around and found that only the Japanese and American markets seems to have the OBDII port. What a bummer. Still need to spend $$$ on clearing the fault codes.
Thanks everyone who followed this thread.
