I am assuming that the car is flooding after it sits for a bit? The first thing I would check is for a leak from the fuel distributor plunger. To check for this you remove the air cleaner assy. Then push the plate of the air horn all the way down. As you peer down past the plate you can see part of the throttle butterfly. You are looking for fuel puddling on top of the closed throttle butterfly. A dental mirror will allow you to peer under the plate towards the fuel distributor to get a better confirmation of the problem. Repair is difficult or expensive. The seal is replaceable but involves critical adjustments that must be maintained. The easier, expensive fix would be to replace the whole fuel distributor. Let us know what you find.
FWIW I've got a good used fuel distributor that's looking for a good home. |
