Why won't it start again?

Hi folks.

I start the engine from cold, drive a few miles and then stop the engine. Will it r3estart? Will it heck! It'll fire occasionally but not catch, or, if it does, it only seems to be firing on a few cylinders. Touch the throttel and it will die.

One thing I have found is that this little vacuum valve under the bonnet has collapsed.

I suspect it is the cause of the problem.

So - questions are...
What is this little valve and what does it do?

Can I block it temporarily to cure the problem? (The dealer ain't round the corner).

And, and this is the biggy, is it likely to be the cause of the problem?

Thankies!

Simon.

No, this isn't on a Buick, it's a 1988 Mercedes Benz 260E. I think it was originally for the Singapore market, and then imported here as a used vehicle.

Excellent, now one of the members with such a vehicle can help you......now that they know the vehicle type.

Most of us put it in our signatures.........saves the guessing game.
