Battery charging problems
Hello all, I have a 1979 280SL. With car switched off the battery light is lit, once the car is started the light goes out. I checked the voltgage at the battery with the car at idle and its 12v or less and will slowly discharge. I have had the alternator rebuilt and still the same problem. With the battery light lit with the car in the switched off position does this indicate a short?

Is the blue wire to the bulb in good shape? It might be grounded.
