Where can I find crush washers???
 

Aluminum and/or Copper? Variety of sizes, specifically for 560SEL tranny drain plug and banjo.

I looked for but didn't see them in fastlane. Can you provide a search string so that I may find them?

As for the dealer, I'll pay the going rate per ounce for gold and get aluminum only if my life depends on it :)

Thanks for the replys. Again, if you can point me in the right direction with fastlane, I'd appreciate it as I've found thats the easiest/best option for parts.

By the time you pay the shipping, you will be very close, or over the dealer price for stuff like this. Besides, you need to have a relationship with the dealer's parts guys when you need to special order something.

any good parts store. if you go to one with kids running it(Autozone,etc), dont expect them to know what you are talking about. napa is usually good.I know i can get them at parts plus- an independent chain in the midwest.

Part -> 007603 010100 - aluminum - used on main tranny pan drain plug
Part -> 007603 010112 - copper - used on converter drain plug.

Part numbers provided are dealer part numbers. You can go to the BuyParts site here and key in these part numbers. Do not include a dash(-).

As mentioned above, you'll pay shipping if you order online. The MB dealer will not take your first born in order to buy these washers and this is one of those occasions that I'd see the dealer.

I'm not so much worried about the shipping since I've got another big order coming up soon (brake pads & rotors for the 300CD) so that will get lost in the noise.

Anyone who wants to have a relationship with the parts guy at Littleton Mercedes in Littleton Colorado can go for it. The last few times I've been there (Absolutly positivly needed the part that day) they have been the most ignorant and unhelpful SOBs I've ever dealt with. Their sales people are about as bad except substitute anal for ignorant. Too bad Murray is a bit of a hike from me. Not go get on a rant, but the last time I purchased a part from the dealership, it was the seal for the bowden cable for the transmission on my '88 560SEL. The guy asks me for my VIN which I don't have and even with the chassis and transmission #'s the guy tells me he can't look the part up without a VIN. It wasn't until I asked for a manager than someone figured out how to look up a part number without a VIN. I figure next time it will be faster, easier, and cheaper to vulcanize my own rubber from household chemicals under the sink.

Thanks for the tip on the 110 pc copper washer set.

I called EVERY specialty nut & bolt place today, plus most of the auto mass-marketers(Auto Zone, etc.), Home Depot, Lowe's, you name it. No one had any copper washers.

The toolswarehouse.net site has a good price, but requires a min. $50 order. Wasn't interrested. Did some digging and found that these washers are made/marketed by -> www.wilmarcorp.com. Called their 800 # and asked for a local retailer who handles them.

If you have one in your area, try "Car Quest Auto Parts". The Car Quest part # is W5217. If not, you might be able to find another retailer in your area at Wilmar's 800 # -> 800-426-1262.

Go to AutoZone, find the section where they have oil filters, and start looking. All the AZ's in my area have alum and copper crush washers that you can buy in packages. I was in 3 different AZ's this weekend and all of them had washers.

I consider AZ to be a DIY parts store - if you have to ask any questions you're in trouble. Go to NAPA for that.

You're learning the difference between American and German cars.

The former don't use crush washers to any extent. They're everywhere on German cars.

What you've learned is that the places you've listed know nothing about German cars and have no parts for them.

It's apples and oranges and owners of Mercedes attempting DIY need to learn the difference.

Source your Mercedes parts from sources specializing in European autos. Give up on "American" sources before it gets you in trouble.
