Testing ETR switch with multimeter
I had the old ETR replaced. I checked it with a multimeter in the ohms setting. At first, it showed "1" and would drop to .324.
I got the ETR on this site and check it, it showed "1" and stay at "1" which would mean that the switch is open. Is this correct? Should the switch stay close to work, which should show "0"? So do I have a bad replacement ETR? I check both switch out of the car. Is this a correct way to do this or should they be connected in the car itself with the pushbutton control on? Thanks, John |

To test resistance, you first remove the device from the circuit it's normally connected to. The ohm meter supplies the current required for an ohm check.
I'm not sure what you mean by "1". Go to -> http://mb.braingears.com/ Online MB service manuals are located at this site. You may be able to find the electrical specs. for the ETR in the online doc. What's not working? |

The link is very helpful. Exactly what I was looking for.
As for the Ohmeter test for continuity. I set the multimeter for resistance. It show "1" on the digital display. If there is continuity across the relay, ie, "closed", then the resistance drops to "zero" as was instructed to me by a mechanic. Thanks, John |
