1998 C230 Stalling Problem
Hi! My C230 has 80,000 km. It runs fine, but 2 months ago it started stalling at stop lights (4 times) ,while driving (1 time) and 5 times wouldn't start after parked for a short time. It always starts after sitting for awhile. I've taken it to a Mercedes Service shop twice and they can't fine any codes to determine what the problem is. Of course it runs perfect for the mechanic. Please Help! Thanks! George

The most common cause of these symptoms is a faulty crankshaft position sensor. They tend to fail when they get hot and will be ok once cooling off a bit. When they do fail it doesn't set a fault code either.

The crankshaft position sensor will not throw a code when it fails.
Start there. Good Luck, Dan
