Re-designing W124 console

Hi,

I am planning to re-design the center console of my 1994 W124 E420
and put a DVD & NAV unit. This unit which i already have, is bigger than the tape area and down. The only place to fit is where the A/C button and above.

Has anyone done this before or has an idea?

I would checkout the forums on www.sounddoomain.com alot of installers do that and they would be familiar with it

Wow your unit is larger than the tape area down? What did you buy?

I have seen some command installations in w124's

http://www.jensmitbenz.de/command.htm

They look pretty nice - although it appears that htey had to overhand and/or angle the unit over part of the shift/console wood. I don't know if you have considered that option but look carefully at the photos on that page. Perhaps that is an easier option.

If you want to go with an original Mercedes Command unit, only the navi's from the ML's will work.
