On my 1995 C280, I have the buzzer sound when I leave the lights on, etc, door open, seatbelt reminder, instead of the beeps. I want to make everything beep, that buzzer really drives me nuts.
THis is what I did. I went under the drivers footwell, removed the panel, and located the buzzing sound with the door open and key in ignition. The part number is 012 545 68 32, and it was made by Hella. I could not locate the beeping sound because I have to have the car in motion with the Emergency brake on. I thought it to be too dangerous to put the car in motion with my body under the dash and have the car rolling down a hill! So naturally, I could not locate the beeping sound.

I want to know.... can I put the beeping sound thing (if i buy another one) into the existing wire connection? Is it the same size, hookup, voltage, etc? Will it work to connect it to where the buzzer was? Anyone know the part number?

That buzzer drives me NUTS. I am also going to wire an On/Off switch into the underside of the dash to turn it off if I have the door open or something. Thanks guys

hello

You should be able to rip that nasty sounding thing out and replace it with a "Sonalert" that will chime. It gets your attention, but is not annoying. Runs on 12 VDC o.k. Should cost 10-15$ Made by Mallory Corp.

MBenz: How are you?

Ron, is is the Mercedes sound? Does it hook into the same place?

Benzmac 03-13-2001 09:08 PM

You could take out the buzzer and open it up. Then go to radio shack and purchase the sound you like in the form of a buzzer and solder it in the old ones place.

David C Klasse 03-13-2001 09:12 PM

Hmm, good point. Maybe I'll try that. But would a Mercedes beeper tone work?? I would like to try that first. Also, maybe there is a way it can go off the old one also? What I mean is maybe I can wire the buzzer to go to the beeper (E brake)??

Hey David, I am doing well; thank you.

If I may ask you: how many times does your buzzer buzz? My buzzer only buzzes when I get out of the car with my keys in my hand and the lights turned on...Does the US version buzz more often (like when you are not wearing your seat belt or something like that). If it only buzzes when the lights are turned on and you walk away with the keys in your hand, I do not see what the annoying part of that buzz is.

However, if you do want to get rid of that buzzing noise, I would solder/connect another noise to the wires going to the buzzer rather than connecting these to the E-brake beep.

I see that you removed your picture out of your signature again…You better cut the sea and parking lot out of that picture and post a picture that shows the cars only (120DPI max) to keep some speed in downloading the threads (I did that with my pictures on the web as well).

Go to http://www.nacc-mallory.com This site will tell you about the Sonalert line and let you hear them. It is quite small, draws very little power and the chime model is pleasant.

David C Klasse 03-14-2001 07:24 PM

Thank you Ron and everyone else. I really appreciate the info. I found the site and listened to the tones. I like them, but I want to get the real MB thing if I can, so TECHS, do you know if this will work??
But I will end up using the sonalert tones if it comes down to it. Thanks again, Ron, you have been a great help.

ALSO, MBENZ.
The buzzer goes like you said. It also goes on the doors are unlocked while driving, when the RPM are at red-line, when the lights aren't on and it's night time, and when the check engine light is on, which it has been for a month! So I'm quite annoyed by now!! Acually, I'm just playing with you... It only goes when you have turn the car on for about 5 seconds, and with the door open with key in ignition or lights on, like you said. But I hate it when I want to keep the music on and have my door open, and it just goes BZZZZ, drives me nuts!! So I want the beeping tone, and I am going to wire a toggle switch on there also.

Hey David, you changed your screen name. Did you become a year older???

I just found out (by accident) yesterday that my C class doesn't buzz at all. It only beeps when I drive with the E-brake on and when I get out with the key in my hands and the lights still on.
If your light system is connected to the beep and the buzz is only used for the opened doors whilst the keys are still in: disconnect the plug to that buzzer! Who needs it? (the european models do not have that buzz at all)

I WANT THE PART NUMBER TO THE BEEPING TONE? Can anyone help me with just the part #?

No, my Birthday is in May (27th) to be exactly. I will be 19, and I will send my address out to those who want to send me a gift, maybe a Partshop Gift Certificate?
I'm just playing.
No, I changed my name because i have had Hottee since I was 16, it was Hottee16m, Hottee17m, and then Hottee18m, I am sick of changing it and am quite sick of the screenname actually. So I am starting with Mercedesshop as the switch of my usernames. Now I just don't know what to change my AOL name too? It's such a hassle changing, EVERYTHING sent to you gets all messed up and it's a big hassle, that's why I will keep both screennames for a few weeks until I get it all sorted out. So that's that.
