how many really nice W116 cars are alive
I have owned many mercedes benz and have had a hard time finding nice W116 models. I have had quite a few nice W123 cars and a few nice W126 cars, but I have never owned a nice W116 car. I am trying to sell a car for a friend, and I think it is worth around 10K, but I want your opinion.
78 450SEL

THis is my 1979 300SD...121k miles...no rust or bondo.
now if that 78 450SEL is would require a personal inspection first...for $10K it would have to be spectacular and not just nice In My Humble opinion.

Good ones are scarce -- they were fuel pigs in an era of high fuel prices (higher than now on a corrected basis), and they RUST horribly, probably due to the use of Italian and Russian steel of dubious quality control. Good ones exist, but most of them are long rusted away. I used to see quite a few in the junk yards, engines, trannies, and interior in good shape, but the body full of holes and the front ends floppy.
