The TCMs are variant coded, engine, chassis and rear ratio information ARE factory program. The transmission soft wear operating strategy in the TCM is calibrated to the valve body, If the valve body were updated, the TCM would be flash with the up dated operating soft wear to support the up dated shift strategy in the valve body.

For the TCM to work PROPERLY it would have to come out of a LIKE VEHICLE, same engine, and rear ratio and have the same valve body calibration.
