I need to replace the low pressure power steering hose and add fluid. What type of power steering fluid does it use?
Thanks. |
Might as well go with the Mercedes "brand". Not cheap -- I just picked up a qt. a few months ago from the dealer for about $12. Can't go wrong.
Cheers, |

I would check right here at this site for the fluid.

Just use a good grade ATF. Dexron III/Mercon is plenty suitable. The MB fluid is only required for some of the newer models. |
Wouldn't disagree with anyone BUT The friction co-effecient that is added to dextron to all it to work as Mercon can cause damage to pwr. steering componets. Even older cars that were designed to use ATF. Have read several reports that specify how & why, bottom line is USE a fluid designed for power steering. Any fluid with Mercon has small bits of "metal" that are designed to allow auto-trans clutches to lock-up better. MB Retailers sell domestic PWR steering fluid under part number Q-1-46-0001 for $9.25 list price.
