Rebuilt trans is in!!!!
Well, I finally have my '93 400E (82k) back on the road. I had a rebuilt trans from Sun Valley Dismantlers in CA shipped to FL and had my independent mechanic install it.
It shifts so smooth that you can barely feel it. I was even in my neighbors driveway which has a slight incline and when I put it in reverse, it didnt clunk in gear like it usually would. The old trans did this whenever I was on an incline. I've never had anything major like this done to any of the vehicles I've ever owned and I find myself "babying" it while driving. I don"t hotrod around like I used to. Admitted I only have put maybe 50 miles on the rebuilt so far, but I'm hoping that this will last me for the rest of my time with this car. Hopefully, you guys won't see any posts on here from me about trans problems.

Robert,
"suddenly" is the key word...Frank's tranny went from one day to the next (unless there's something he didn't tell anyone about). Frank, "hotrodding"? You? Hotrodding? When? You might have trouble deciding wether the light is yellow or pink (hehe), but, I don't think I have yet to see you hotrodding in the 400E. In all seriousness, I am happy to hear that the rebuild is working out well! -Larry
