W123 280CE k-jet diag : What is "warm control pressure" ?
My trusty 280CE with, i beleive, a M110.888 engine has trouble idling, when the engine is warm. That is, when oil pressure drops below 1,0 (psi?). Idle is very rough, the warmer it gets (engine+weather), and sometimes it will stall.
I'm suspecting the warm-up regulator or a leaky cold-start valve, because : -valves have been adjusted (helped general idling) -compression on all cylinders in the range of 125-145psi -new plugs+wires installed (no improvement) -no appearant leaks on the intake side. I sprayed intake side with starter-gas : manifold, o-rings, rubber tubes etc. -Idle is probably also bad when the engine is cold, but not at notceable, because of the warm-up regulator keeping up rpms. -oil pressure is 3.0 (psi?) with cold engine and also rises to 3.0 as soon as i touch the gas pedal. -I have given the idle +100 rpms so it doesn't stall, but idle is, of course, still bad. I found plenty of guides for troubleshooting the k-jet, but all "warm idle" remedies mentions "warm control pressure", and i cannot relate that to any Danish terms. My German K-jet manual does not refer to any terms, that could be the "warm control pressure" either. Can anybody help explain, please ? Jesper, Copenhagen, DK
