Excellent coil spring replacement video by Klann

Came across this site while searching for a spring compressor to buy. Makes it look soooo easy.

As to buying a Mercedes spring compressor, I don't want to spend $800-$900 for Klann so the $200 ones on Ebay look tempting. Made in Taiwan by JTC Auto Tools http://eng.jtc.com.tw/products/products_list.php?offset=1&cid=183&search=nvl() has anyone bought direct from them? Anyone have one they want to sell?

You can rent the spring compressor from two of us right here on the site..........in the tool rental program.

Doesn't make sense to buy your own unit for one time use.

I bought the Klann clone that was orginally sold by Baum Tool, from a member on this board. The one in the link looks like mine.

The ones that are rented in the rental program are, I believe, the same model that I have. They work great and are as easy to use as the video demonstrates.

How much are a pair of OEM springs for a 1998 C-class?

My car produces a slight jounce noise over bump from my rear, I have replaced the shocks but think for some reason my spring on one side has gone bad.

Measure from the centre of the hub to the bottomlip of the rear fender on both sides & compare.
I doubt the spring is causing the noise.
Your spring pad ( cushion where the spring sits at the top ) possibly.
It would also be worth getting a friend to bounce the rear up & down, while you watch/listen from under the car.
You could spray some lubricant at the suspected area (s ) & isolate the source of the noise.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just went out and bounced the corner where the noise comes form - have Bilstein Sport shocks - couldn't get much action going.

I'll be going to a Mercedes club tech session soon, and will try to test it some more at the event.
