190e Engine Black Smoke??
My Black 190E (not on eBay right now) has a problem 89 190E 2.6L gas/auto
When it starts in the 60 degree morning, it runs delightful. Idle is smooth, no smoke at exhaust, picture perfect. After it warms up, the engine is shaking all over, rattling the driver, and smoke is puffing lightly from the tailpipe. I checked the signal at the 02 sensor, it was basically full rich. It was not waivering like my other 190E does. It was steady, the engine stumbled and shook. It has brand new H9DC plugs gapped at .32. I swapped all the wires from another 190E i have. I removed the dist cap and rotor and filed the contact points to a brilliant shine, and cleaned it. Still the problem remains. A ParkPlace Mercedes Tech came over and I asked him about this problem, he said that he sees it often. The fuel distributor head goes bad and is constantly pumping too much gas. It runs good at startup because it needs more gas, then when warm, it tries to modulate the fuel/air ratio but cannot due to the bad fuel distributor head. Can anyone confirm this? Is this a common issue? Can there be another thing to check on? Any help on this topic surely would be appreciated. After it is fixed, it will be the next on eBay. The tech suggested a high $$$ fix. I'd consider a worn out O2 sensor for starters.
My 2 cents.

Bad EHA, Bad O2, check plugs to make sure no oil or coolant on them signifying head gasket leak. Or maybe Bad OVP. Without OVP the car will run more rich and shake as well. Have you tried to adjust base mixture yet? Could also be a shot lambda tower that has made the Mixture rich.

Confused in TX
What is a lambda tower?
The steel ball is covering the 3mm allen adjust for the mixture. The plugs are new. the O2 sensor works fine somedays. It modulates the mixture and the idle is good. Somedays (most days) it is shaky and smoky. The O2 signal is fluxuating between 0.8 and 0.1. I can hear the engine actually change slightly as I see the voltage move. A bad O2 wouldnt do that (I.M.O.) I have previously inspected both 10 amp fuses in the OVP, and they are well, and no corrosion at fuse holder. Anything else to check? Maybe bad computer? Bad Fuel Distributor? Bad Injector? Cold Start Valve? HELP

I have checked the OVP and both fuses are good.
The O2 does work and register a good value sometimes. Is it possible that the fuel dist head can cause excessive fuel delivery to the cylinders? Could a bad injector nozzle be the culprit instead. Any help is appreciated. I am putting this car on eBay after I fix it. Check the link below to see my blue/green metallica benz. Its for Sale!! Low low price. It'll be a classic in 3 years. Invest now.
