no but i have tried and use Wynstar Phaser R21 tires that i buy locally. do not laugh, i do not know who makes them but they ride good, are quiet, look good and wear great. Cost $50 new 205/65/15 or 195/65/15 94H rated. i put them on both my W124 and W126 after much disappointment with yokohoma dbs. i would love some made in canada not france anymore michelin energy mxv4s but at $125+.

Falken Tires
I have used Falken tires several times in the past and am using them (ziex) now on my 1990 300CE. My first experience was several years ago and they were useless on my 1976 Jaguar XJ12C (I have a coupe phobia) so I was reluctant to try them again. I am on my second set of zeix tires (225/45-17 on after-market rims) and I love them - great ride, great wear, great handling, quiet, etc, etc (I like my cars a little on the "sport" side, but also "all around" - i.e. the 17in. wheels and H.D. bilstein shocks, etc).

I have them on my 300e...
They were recommended by consumer reports. I tried them and I had no problems with them. The only thing I noticed is that when you rotate the tires, they HAVE to be balanced again or they will vibrate. I know!
The good new is...I got them at Sears so I have free rotation and balance for the life of the tire.

Have a set on my C230 (512's) and really like them. Great wet traction! Things I have noticed...
1. Tread life is a little shorter than I think people expect from an "all-season" tire. Looks like I'll get about 70,000kms (45K-miles) out of the set. 2. At the very limit of adhesion (I've pushed them!) they don't let go abruptly (good thing) but they get a little squirrely. I'd rather they did that than let go suddenly, so I can live with that. 3. People drive on them in the snow, but not me. No way. All-season means three season for snow-belt dwellers. I LOVE the price and they are terrific value.

I just put a set of Falken Ziex 512 "V" rated on my 560SL. They are available in H or V. Balanced nicely with little weight, and so far (less than 200 miles) are super. They are made by Sumitomo Tire in Japan. Directional tread. Highly rated by ConsumersReports and a very good value for a performance tire. I purchased them online at vulcantire.com and had them installed at a local shop.

Falken is offered as a "standard issue" tire for the "old school" VW Bug aftermarket rim/tire setup. No issues with them at all...of course, far different driving demands...

Blackmercedes:
I got about 46,000 miles out of my first set, which I feel is o.k. for the price and performance too. |
