w124 E420 Question

Can someone please explain to me what the fan in the right front wheelwell of my ´95 E420 is for?

I´m having problems with my 225/45/17 tires rubbing on the plastic cover for this fan when turning left.

I´d like to know if I could modify/remove this plastic cover to cure this problem.

regards,
Gunnar Thor

Reduce your wheel size, it's rubbing on more than the radiator cowl by the look of it.

Thanks for the reply well I´ve tried the original 215/55/16 tires and they still rub:confused:

I´ve not had the car for long - and I don´t know if it has been in an accident before, but it looks like the bumper is cracked on the right side (could possibly be from the tire rubbing).

Gunnar, the front bumper appears to be pushed back ... the vertical edge of the bumper should be flush with the fender. The fender liner is definitely too far back causing it to contact the tire.

Thanks for the tip - could this be due to a front collision/bad repair?
