Just an FYI for you W140 owners, their is a manual for your car...
MB does sell a manual for the W140, the dealer I used looked it up in about 5 minutes. I forget the part number. Costs $175 and is a set of CD's.

The one the dealer showed me just covered W120's, no W220's.
Not any good? Thats not good to hear, would it kill them to print a set of service manuals for these things? What are they top seceret? I wouldn't mind paying $200 for an engine manual, $200 for a climate control ect. Just as long as they are good. What do the tech's at the dealers use?

the 140 DVD isn't that bad.. The ETM and Starfinder combo has proven quite handy for me.. In some ways I find it easier to get around then the WIS...plus getting the DVD to work on your PC is a lot easier then getting the WIS to take.

The point that everyone has to remember, MB would never sell manuals to the public unless they were forced to by the govenment. That is exactly what happend, I have had service manuals from most major US manufacturers, they all were very complete and comprehensive. MB also made similar manuals available and I have had them for 123, 126, and some limited 140 info.
The DVD seems to be a compilation of intro to service manuals, owners manuals, service bulletins, and some workshop manual info including wiring diagrams. The seem to have sanned in some manuals that were available and others that were not. The DVD is good, but not as good as the old as the old workshop manuals. I have not seen the 210 or other DVDs maybe they are better, but I have seen some of the material MB dealers have to work with which remain the property of MB, and it seems that most of the training goes to the mechanics and spreads thru the shop. I paid $150 it a little quirky as to the later ADOBE version, and allowing some content to run on your computer. |
