W220 Wont Start - Please help!
Hey guys,
I am really at a loss here. My 2000 S430 will not start. Here's the setup: Started out as an intermittent no crank - now the car wont crank at all. No "PNRD" showing up on the instrument cluster Here is what I have done so far: New brake light switch Verified battery charge Replaced ESM - electronic shift module Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

The W140 is said to be very very complex with many computers. Therefore, it would follow that the W220 is equally or even more complex.
Before you throw random $ at it buying parts that may or may not be involved, why have the car flat bedded to the dealer and have it properly diagnosed? If one elects to drive a modern S class out of warranty, one must expect some not insignificant dollars to maintain the car. Steve |

Guys,
This is a "technical" forum. All too often I see guys saying "take it in". Unfortunately, this car has been in and the dealer is the one throwing parts at the problem. From my very practical experience, I can tell you that the dealer is very very often wrong. This board usually gives great guidance that can point the dealer in the right direction. Brian |

Ah, but you didn't say that in your first post.
Even though this is a technical forum, I think you would agree that there have been more than a few posters trying to solve their particular problem(s) by buying part after part hoping to solve it. Problems, such as the one you describe, are why I may be nicely stuck at 1995 relative to Mercedes. Steve |

sounds like the battery to me
I've seen a lot of "verified battery charge" posts on this forum only to read later that the battery was, in fact, shot. Try swapping with a known good battery.
