Code 11

According to my service manual for 1992 code 11 means the following.

"Electronic Idel speed control actuator or EGR valve vacuum transducer ( y31/1) Note #2
"Displayed only if there a short circuit.

Code 11

What are the systems if any that you experience when the car is started cold till it reaches operating temperture while ideling and driving?

I can only tell you what I read in my Mercedes- Work Shop manuals to fine what the problem is I need to know more of what systems you have. Also how many miles on the odometer? when was the last time an o2 sensor was changed?

I am not an expert but we share the same year and engine. I would be more than happy to look up some information if you give me some vital signs to go by.

Bob, I appreciate everything you're doing for me man. I'm not sure when the O2 Sensors were replaced, but I can tell you that they were replaced once long ago-(I'll go through my records and make sure for you.) Miles: 193k. When I start it in the morning, it only hesitates slightly when I start it, it also trembles slightly until it reaches operating temp.

I also heard that code 11 means a malfunction with the air injection system-the air pump?

Code 11

Does the hesitation stop once it reaches operating temperture? I do not want to mis lead you any and driff away from the code you gave me (11). Things I would check.
1) spark plugs & wires
2) rotor and cap
3 02 sensor
4) Tempture sensor at rear of motor on left side. this sends information to the CPU to tell it to run in a richer mode when cold or WOT. until the catallic converter can heat up and the emission devices become closed loop.
5) EGR vacuum valve could be a bad vacuum line
You may need to pull some of these items and measure resistence on them ie tempture sensor measure resistence according to the the work shop manual
6) does the engine shut off and the warring lights go on and then you restart the car? check the over voltage protect relay behine the battery it could be the two fuses on top or if you can unplug it ignition off if it ratltles its bad.
Send me your email address and I will send you a copy of the page I found from the predelivery manual for 1992 model W124. Hopefully some other member can chime in and add to what I have said. There are I am sure others who experienced this problem.
Good Luck

The hesitation does stop after it reaches normal temp. Where is the EGR vacuum valve and the Electronic Idel speed control actuator?
