Save Me!
I have a 88 190e 2.3, I'm having problems with heat comming out of the side vents when the A/Cs on. I've tried closing the two but heat still comes through the defrost vent. I've replaced the heater control valve;still no difference. Can someone help out with a diagram to help me find the leak?

Is the valve closed when you have heat?

Sounds like a vacuum problem. The heater control valve is vacuum controlled.
I'm guessing, but I bet that when no vacuum is present, the valve defaults to open. Check the vacuum line to the valve for a leak. Jeff Pierce
