Ceramic Brake Pads
Hi everyone... I've read a lot of good things about ceramic brake pads and I would like some of your input. The only cons I have heard is that they can be pricey, and with certain rotors they squeek. Does anyone have any other input for me or do you guys also recommend them?
Also, is there a certain type of rotor that works well with ceramic brake pads? Would the cross drilled work well or does it not matter? |
They eat rotors. Depending on what type of pad they are some don't like to be cold. IE a racing type pad doesn't really belong on a street car.
They do throw off less dust I have been told, which on these cars is a very good thing! |
I would recommend using Textar brand pads. They are OEM and they do the best for low squeaking. But you have to use new rotors for the best results

I have had really good results with the ceramics on a variety of vehicles. All of my cars are 9-12 months into a "test round" with ceramic pads right now.
They have been quieter, less dusty, and resulted in more even rotor wear than any other pad type I have tried so far. I also like the "early grip" feel of them compared to carbon fibre type performance pads (which require greater pedal effort, particularly when cold). While the carbon fibre type may ultimately provide more fade resistance, braking to that extent is rarely performed on the street. Coming down Mt Washington 2 weeks ago, the ceramics held up just fine. |

Brake pads.
I recommend you check with Phil at Fast lane. I could not stand the factory brake pads because of all the sout they put out in the first mile after you washed your car. I went to PBR delux pads instead . These pads need a little more warming up in the morning but low dust and braking performance are excellant on your rotors and your wheels.
