Have you added body cladding to an early 124?
I can't tell if this is the best section to post, but here goes...
I'd like to hear from anyone who's added late model body cladding to their 124. I have all the upper panels and long rocker sections, but there are a myriad of clips, screws and retainers required, and I need to know if these can be easily adapted to fit the early body. Any tips? TIA Last edited by Zeitgeist; 06-08-2006 at 10:36 AM. |

If by chance the mounting holes for the early 124 car trim pieces match the top holes for the late model cladding you're halfway home; however, you'll have to drill holes for the lower clips that attach the cladding to the doors and fenders. Better to leave well enough alone.

We just went through this a month or two ago, and if I recall correctly,,, the doors and fenders are the same part number for most of the early and late models,,,,, which would tell me that no drilling is required,, just put on your new cladding. Most cladding comes with the clips attached if it is from another vehicle. BTW,,, that is one beautiful TE,,,, almost as nice as mine.

My cladding came with most, but not all of the receiver clips, but none of the attachments for the doors or fenders. I've seen an EPC screenshot of a schematic for all the parts, but it's not very detailed. Does anyone know of a source in the EPC or elsewhere, that may have all the part numbers for these clips?

The parts dept of MB dealer had drawing showing all the clips and locations. Some could be bought individually, others were sold as pkg of q#. I paid about $30 for most of the clips for one door.
