How can i disconnect the alarm?

Car has an after market alarm installed by the P.O.After opening the doors with the remote, the doors lock in about 5 sec.with out me touching the remote.I just want to open and close the doors with the key.I am not very technical when it comes to electronics.

For starters, you'd need to know the name of the mfg. AND the exact model of the alarm. With that, you might be able to go out on the WEB and find the installation manual for the unit.

If you're not savvy with elect/ignition systems, I'd hire someone who knows. Check with a local alarm installation shop.

Wink Automatic locking - Mercedes

Both my 92 300CE and my girl friend's 99 ML320 are set to lock very soon after starting out ... this is a safety feature that can be set or unset on a lot of these cars ..... not a bad approach really, especially when driving in less than safe areas -- at night, etc etc. If you like the alarm system otherwise, you can have the locking pattern changed by a knowledgeable MB tech.

The first thing to try is to reset the alarm. Locate the main alarm box ---> Disconnect the wiring ---> Wait about 10 seconds ---> plug them again ---> Try it now. This should solve you problem.
