Transmission, Parking on a hill.

At work I ahve to park on a hill with no curbs to turn my front wheels into. My emergency brake does'nt seems to be working well because when I put my car in Park the car rolls back and all the weight seems to rest on the transmission. When I place the car in Drive it really "clunks" in to gear. Is this bad for the transmission and will it cause damage in the long run.
Thanks.

From what I understand, there is a very small pin in the transmission that can sometimes snap under the conditions you described, requiring costly disassembly. I'd get your parking brake sorted out - much less expensive.

Have you tried adjusting your emergency brake? It is easy. Just remove the rear wheels and look for the adjuster wheel through one of the lug bolt holes. It is a small spur wheel just like an old VW used.

Next time you do your brakes take apart the spur wheel assembly and clean and lube it lightly so it will self adjust. :)

How do they self adjust??? I have never seen self adjusters in the ones that I worked on.

There are no "self adjusters" on these parking brake shoes.
