ordered new front rotors, what about outside bearing rim?
 

i ordered a set of front rotors for my 116. now i'm worried about the outter bearing bit, do i need to get that out of my old rotors and put it in the new ones? or is it a one piece thing? it seems to sit there rather tight...:)

I can't imagine that it's one piece. Look at the back side of each race. You should see just a bit of it sticking out. You should be able to take a drift and pound out each race. If the bearings still look good, transfer all bearing parts to the new rotor. Be careful not to nick the race surfaces.

what do you mean by 'race'? I am used to french cars and with them you always need special tools to get stuff out. or weld a little rim around the piece to shrink it and then bang it as hard as you can. quite anoyyant. I hope a small hammer and metal pipe will do?

you normally reuse the hub when changing front rotors. so all the bearings and seals are in it.

If you look in here; http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1 ,you will find your car and the diagram of the braking system will let you see what you are dealing with. The rotors are separate from the hub as you can see although you may need to hammer a bit to free them because of corrosion. Make sure you remove the screws holding the rotor to the hub before proceeding.
I know where you are coming from as some French cars do use a one piece hub /rotor unit which is also the outer bearing race.

oh mother****er what did i get into here! banging stuff out? wat the f? indeed the french are way more gentle about the front situation. and women. mainly because of the traction avant obviously: the front wheel drive. much safer in curves etc, not good for car chase movies:) big ass bearings in french cars i can assure you. nice stuff. anyway, I'm happy to learn here. once i get those rotors delivered i;ll prob be back with questiones for you guys:)
