AC Filter S 500

Does any one know if the 1993 S 500 has two AC filters or is it just one under the hood? Thanks

From what I understand there is a standard filter and a charcoal activated filter. They are both located under the large plastic panel under the hood. Im not sure but I read somewhere there is a third that might go in under the dash somewhere. I have yet to change mine and would be interested myself to know from someone who has done the changing.

Additionally how often is the "realistic" interval to change these filters. The charcoal one is rather pricey and Im rather sure the interval in the manual is profit motivated rather than need motivated for the frequency of the changes.

There is one under the triangular cover at the base of the passenger windshield, fairly easy to get out $100 or so. The other is buried in the heater plenum, and requires the windshield wiper arms, motor and gear train to be removed, and then collapsed by a vacuum tool. this is definately a involved job with the chance of breaking the windshield. The third is just a foam screen in the passenger footwell
