Just wanted to say hi ...and thanks,...it was the crank position sensor!

1992 300E, 190k, purchased it from the original owner 3 months ago. Excellent condition, never seen snow/smoke, garage kept. It would shut down as soon as it got to maximum operating temp. At idle or 70mph, it didnt make a difference. After replacing the CPS it even seem to run cooler(?) by 15-20 deg, little better milage as well :)..? hmmm

While I was at it I decided to replace the fuel pumps, MAS relay, OVP... figured what the heck..it was original equipment and it needed it anyway. The prior owner put in a new coil, new fuel filter, all new injectors, and a new radiator. I picked up a 'new looking' fuel regulator on ebay whitch I may install in a few days.

did the CPS cure the problem? You are stating alot about up keeping new parts...But was that the problem? That is the helpful part of the post. Thanks-
