E320 hot start problem
I have a 1995 e320 . It will start and run flawlessly when cold, if you shut it down when it is up to full operating temp it will restart if you start it again within a minute, but if you wait any longer it will crank but not even trys to fire untill it cools down to a certain point and then it will start and run flawlessly again. Car runs great otherwise. Does anyone know what the problem is? and no check engine lights .

same issue
My car is a 1991 Mercedes Sel 420. I get up in the morning and I start my car no problems at all, I can drive for hours and have no problems but as soon as I turn it off and go in a store and come back the car hesitates to start. I crank it on it starts for 5 seconds then it shuts down, after about the third or fourth try the car stays on. Sometimes I get it started and take off 10 seconds later my car shuts down with lights all on the instrument panel. My car never idles different through out the day. Its so weired!?!. I was thinking that it may be a fuel check valve and fuel accumalator but replaced both check valves and the accumalator and nothing different. I also here that it may be the CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. would a crank shaft position sensor allow a sel 420 to start at all? My car after cranking for a little while will start for 5-10 seconds before it stalls out. once it cools a little bit it will start with no problem. Thanks for reading!!!

first thing, if you always get your gas at the same place, try a different brand for a while.
depending where you live some fuels may be more susceptible to heat soak. I think I remenber reading that somewhere as a test when starting to diagnose such a problem. |

does this dps problem produce stalling at idle? i have the above problem but now the car stalls at idle sometimes. but will start right back up. otherwise sometimes i will park it and it won't start until i wait 10-20 minutes.
any help is appreciated. john |

Hot Start Problem
All 4 Mercedes I have had (116-450sel; 116 6.9; 108 6.3 and 126 420sel) have experienced hot start problems; best and only solution has been changing the rear fuel accumulator located by the gas tank same area as fuel pump(s); cheap part @ $35-40.00. learnt the hard way with my first problem car that after spending many $$$$ in fuel inkection parts, fuel pumps, fuel distributor it turned out to be the fuel accumulator. Try it before anything else and will save many $$$$ and headaches no matter what some mechanics tell you.

CRANk SENSOR
I I jad the same problme with my CLK 430 it was the crank sensor.
