1990 300E A\C compressor Inoperative
A\C compressor is not functioning. I set the control to minimum with high speed on the fan and no luck.
I then charged the system with one can of R134 with no success. It would suggest an electrical problem but I am not sure. Please help. Walter Sawczak 1990 300E

walter, there are so many things that can be wrong.most probable is the speed sensor you can check this by watching compressor clutch while someone else starts the car and turn on ac.if this is problem compressor will run for4-5secs and then shut off.if this happens then go behind battery remove plastic cover[if still there] and locate the two big rectangular relays.the one closest to battery with klima written on it is ac relay.turn over and identify pins #15 and 87.find a way of joining the female sockets that the relay plugs into[strip some auto wire and wind around male pins on relay and plug back in].this will run compressor continually while ignition is on.now you can see whether the system cools.let me know. david poole owner european performance. dallas texas

If you put in 134 I surely do hope that it has already been properly converted for the use of 134.
Unless you understand air conditioning principles, you should find someone who does before proceeding. |

walter no not that one should be two tall rectangular ones to the left of the one with the fuse.one is the fuel pump relay and the other is the ac relay.perhaps if you will tell me what is written on either or both i can identify for you.
