BAS, ABS,ESP And Now Check Engine Light!!!

:confused:Well, I finaly ended stranded on the road. Like I have said in my last post. I went to another dealer and got a new MB brake switch. Repleaced it and the lights went out for 2 days. Sudenly they came back and we are on step one again. This past Friday on my way home on a stop light the car desided to go into limp mode, check engine light came on and the spedo was not functioning. The only option was to get the car towed to the closest MB dealer. I know that this will hurt when I find out tomorrow. I will let you all know what was wrong.

Thanks for the help.
Mike

BAS, ABS,ESP And Now Check Engine Light & The BILL

:eek:Well, I got the bill! $1600.00 this includes labor, parts and the towing. Aparently the Bas or the ESP module went bad. For this reason the check engine liht came on and it is programed to go into "safemode" I suspect. I will ask for the old parts or at least to see them. I am considering returning to VOLVO cars. This first experience with Mercedes Benz has not been a plesurable one. Please if you guys think that I should keep the car let me know.

Right on.
Make sure you get a Volvo made between 1985 & 1990, before they became complicated.
Oh, and don't buy one made after 2001, as FORD has owned them since then. Enough said. :D

Hmmm... I might try all this tricks tomorrow to see if I can get rid of that "Always On" ABS warning light. Meanwhile, I'll keep reading other's solutions.

I found out that the dealer has no idea what they are doing. Let me explain... The dealer tells me that the ESP module went bad and it needed to be replaced. So I aprove the repair. Yesterday when I was expecting a call to pick the car up I called and they claim they found something else. According to them a mouse may have cut the rear wheel speed sensor wiring and that even with the new module the same problem was going on. Well After asking many question and allowing the dealer to give the sleeping spray I let him know that I was not buying the story. In other words the wire issue was the problem not the module. My car insurance will cover the bill but I strongly recomend for anyone in DETROIT MICHIGAN NOT TO USE MERCEDES BENZ OF ST. CLAIR SHORES. The dealer can not return the module to MB after is opened and the tech did not read the codes on the scan tool. The service advisor told me that the module has multiple codes. If he would have read the codes it would had been clear that there was something wrong with the speed sensor. I understand that there could still be a malfunction with the module but at least try to be honest and not think that we the customer are stupid.
Will keep you all posted!

AUX Fans. DO they both come on or just one.

Hi,
I have a 1997 s420 and when I turn on my AC, only one aux fan comes on(driver side). Is that normal? I also noticed yesterday that my low level coolant light was on but the tank had plenty of fluid. Is this problem related.
thanks for your reply.
